The government has released a draft Protected Disclosures Bill for public comment to strengthen whistleblower protection.

The final wording may still change, but the direction is worth noting, and the main practical point for employers is this:

Your disclosure process needs to be clear, current and owned by a real person.

Open the policy. Check the named person. Check the process. Check the version. Then check whether your Policy Passport record shows who has received and acknowledged it.

That is the record you will want later if anyone asks what steps were taken.
